Batmobile

While I am not into cars as much as my husband Tim is, there’s one car that I would absolutely love to have: the Batmobile.
As a child in the 1970s, I watched reruns of the Batman TV show every afternoon. One of my favorite things about it was the Batmobile. Even though I couldn’t drive, I wanted one for myself. For one, it had a batphone that sat between Batman and Robin. I had never seen a phone in a car before that. Best of all, it had a cool, sleek design with a rocket in the back where to trunk would be. I thought it was so exciting when they leapt into the Batmobile, turned on the rocket and sped from the bat cave and out onto the road. Who wouldn’t want an adventure like that?
Then came the Batmobile from the 1989 Batman movie. To be honest, I didn’t like its design as well, but it also had a rocket in the back. As an adult who could drive, I had a new appreciation for that. There have been times I was running late and wished I had a rocket in my car. Actually, having one of those would pose a challenge in our neck of the woods. Think about it. You’ve got the rocket flowing at full blast when you come up on a deep curve. At that speed, you would end up in somebody’s front yard or cattle field. Holy cow! Sorry. I couldn’t resist. To keep that from happening, your car would also need a grappling hook. It would have to be thrown at a tree so the prongs could latch into it. That way your car could hang in the curve.
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1 (KJV)
Let’s face it, grappling hooks have their limits. Do you want to be able latch onto something that is totally and completely secure? May I suggest placing your faith in the Lord? Have no fear for He will never let you go.
Years ago, I came close to having my very own Batmobile. I was in a grocery store when I saw my friend and cousin Lynda. “There you are,” she said. “I’ve been looking for you. I saw your car out in the parking lot.”
“What? There are many cars around here like mine,” I answered.
“Yeah, but yours is the only one with bat stickers on the back window.”
As soon as I got back out to my car, I checked. Yep. She was right. Apparently, my daughter Sara has stuck them there when she was sitting in the back seat. You know what, I left them on there until we traded it.
