Apple and sweet potato casserole

This is a sweet potato casserole you can fix any time of the year. It takes canned sweet potatos. Fresh apples are always available at Food City. If you have a can of sweet potatoes in your pantry and a few apples in the fridge, you are ready to go.

APPLE AND SWEET POTATO CASSEROLE
2 lb can sweet potatoes (not mashed)
2 cups sliced peeled apples
3/4 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup melted butter
1 teaspoon salt

Drain sweet potatoes and slice lengthwise. Place in greased 12 by 8 inch baking pan. Place sliced apples over sweet potatoes. Combine syrup, butter and salt. Pour over apples. Cover. Bake at 350 F. for 45 minutes. Remove cover and bake for about 30 minutes longer or until apples are tender. Baste frequently , adding more syrup if necessary.
Note: you can use pancake syrup in place of maple syrup.
