6th Annual Clays For Children Raises Record $55,000.00 To Support Children’s Centers Of The 8th Judicial District
On Friday, September 24, District Attorney General Jared Effler and staff, in partnership with the Children’s Centers of the 8th Judicial District, hosted the Sixth Annual Clays for Children Sporting Clays Tournament at Chilhowee Sportsman’s Club in Maryville. The purpose of this event was to raise money to support the children’s centers of the 8th Judicial District, comprised of Campbell, Claiborne, Fentress, Scott, and Union counties. Clays for Children has doubled in the number of participants since its inception, with 93 teams and nearly 400 individual shooters participating this year.
The children’s centers of the 8th Judicial District serve hundreds of children each year and work closely with local law enforcement and the District Attorney Generals’ Office. They assist with medical examinations, forensic interviews, counseling, and court proceedings. The services they provide help to ensure justice is served upon the perpetrators of crimes against children and help victims through their services.
“I am grateful and excited our event has reached its 6th year and is not only going strong, but continuing to grow. The continued support we receive annually from members of the community, law enforcement, local businesses, and corporations alike is simply amazing.” Effler said. The District Attorney General’s Office is pleased to announce that this year’s Clays for Children Sporting Clays Tournament netted $55,000.00, a new record total for the event! This money will ensure that our Children’s Centers can continue their worthy mission of serving abused and neglected children.
