4-H Friends and Family Campaign

First 4H Club

Union County 4-H greatly thanks the community for tremendous response to the 4-H Friends and Family Campaign. The campaign was launched by the Tennessee 4-H Foundation to provide county 4-H clubs with an opportunity to grow funds, gain new support, and increase awareness of 4-H. Union County joined the movement, and with overwhelming donations from patrons in the county, raised funds towards a goal to grow the county’s established endowment fund. This trust provides a quarterly payout to be applied to educational 4-H programs as well as camp and conference scholarships, right here in Union County for years to come.

The youth of Union County are our future. Showing faith and support for them exhibits that we are investing in making our community steadily grow and prosper. Tennessee 4-H plays a significant role in providing educational experiences that help our young people gain knowledge, develop life skills, live healthy lives, make intelligent career choices, and form positive attitudes, adding to their lifelong success.

Union County has been providing opportunities for youth through 4-H since the first club, also known as Corn Club, was organized in 1917. The program has grown steadily through the years reaching thousands of children and young adults within the community. Outstanding achievements from Union County 4-Hers during 2017 include three state project winners, state market hog show premier exhibitor, two top five skillathon winners, first place livestock judging team, and over four hundred public speeches in fourth and fifth grade, to name a few. Our members are actively involved in county festivals, community service projects, and volunteering at local events. There are a growing number of active program areas locally including livestock, sewing, public speaking, companion animals, environmental science, nutrition, photography, and more.

The support shown from donors, including 4-H Alumni, volunteers, parents, and devoted community affiliates during the 4-H Friends and Family Campaign was overwhelming and vastly appreciated by UT Extension Union County staff and 4-H club members. It is funds like these that allow programs to prosper and scholarships to be available. If you would like to donate to this campaign, it is not too late.
