Union County High School senior Dalton Truan signed to wrestle with University of the Cumberlands Patriots April 10.
“Dalton is the hardest working guy, day in, day out,” said UCHS head wrestling coach James Ramirez.
“Pound for pound Dalton is the best football player I’ve ever had, but he is a superb wrestler,” said UCHS football coach Larry Kerr. “I took him to a wrestling match and he fell in love with the sport.”
“Dalton has really unique characteristics off the mat. You don’t have to worry if he’s going to be on time and show up for practice, “said Cumberlands head wrestling coach Travis Barroquillo. “On the mat, his wrestling abilities speak for themselves. He does all the right things and lives his life the right way.”
Truan has wrestled for five years and is a three-time region champion, a four-time state qualifier and placed third in the state in 2019.
He says he is grateful for his family and friends’ support and is excited to head to the university. “There have been so many people here at UCHS who have helped me. I like wrestling and I like that the university isn’t too large.”
Truan plans to major in Engineering or Business.
