The honorable jared effler to lead tennessee district attorneys
8th District Attorney General to join Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference Executive Committee
CAMPBELL, CLAIBORNE, FENTRESS, SCOTT and UNION COUNTIES, Tenn. (June 20, 2022) – Jared Effler, 8th District Attorney General, has been elected by fellow members of the Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference (TNDAGC) to serve on the organization’s Executive Committee. In this position, Effler will have a vital voice in guiding the overall administration of justice in Tennessee.
“I am appreciative of the opportunity to serve on the Executive Committee,” Effler said. “Support for victims of crime is a top priority for me as a District Attorney, and I am looking forward to working with this respected group of leaders as we strive to improve justice and security for all Tennesseans.”
“The mission of the Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference is to support our elected District Attorneys in their constitutional duty to seek justice and protect Tennesseans,” said Guy R. Jones, TNDAGC Executive Director. “General Effler’s election to the Executive Committee, and his wise counsel and leadership, will be instrumental in managing a budget of over $130M and 1,100 employees.”
After graduating from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 1999, Effler was appointed Assistant District Attorney for the 8th Judicial District. He served in this role until he was elected as District Attorney General in August 2014. Effler is an active member of the Union County community, where he was born and raised. He serves on the board of directors for Campbell County Children’s Center, Children’s Center of the Cumberlands and Friends of Lincoln Memorial University – Duncan School of Law. In addition, he has worked alongside Mothers Against Drunk Driving to combat DUI recidivism and collaborates with school districts to educate students on the dangers of social media and other electronic communications. He is also a member of Milan Baptist Church and serves as chairman for the TNDAGC Victim/Witness Steering Committee. In his spare time, General Effler enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time on Norris Lake with his wife, Mary, and their two daughters, Katy Beth and Mia.
