Now that Thanksgiving has passed, Christmas is fast approaching. With it comes the beloved Christmas festivities! So, what does December have in store for the community? There are plenty of fun, family friendly events this month.

On November 30 th St. Teresa of Kolkata Catholic Church is hosting World Players for a Christmas play. The group will be performing “Nativity on the Square.” According to their website, the 25–30-minute play is one in which, “figures of a public creche scene come to life on Christmas Eve and attempt to discover who they are.” This play approaches the nativity and Christmas story with a comedic tone. It is intended to be deeply moving but also provide laughter for the audience. For those who are unfamiliar with the term “creche”, like I was, it means “nativity.” The play starts at 7pm, with light refreshments starting at 6pm. Saturday, December 3rd , Maynardville Elementary School is hosting their Holiday Cheer Vendor & Craft Fair from 10am-2pm. This is the perfect event to stock up on Christmas gifts while supporting local crafters, artisans, and vendors. Shop for unique and handmade gifts that will surely delight! First Baptist Church of Maynardville will be holding “A Christmas Journey” drive through nativity story in the church parking lot on December 10th and 11th from 6-7:30 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend and witness the true Christmas story unfold. First Baptist Church is located at 730 Main St, Maynardville, TN 37807. Horace Maynard Middle School is hosting the family friendly event this year. Admission is free for all, and game tickets will be available for purchase for 50cents a ticket. Visitors can expect to take photos with Santa, engage in fun games and crafts, and partake in a silent auction. The silent auction will end at 11am.

In addition to the festivities and the silent auction, Winter Wonderland on Mainstreet will feature a large selection of gifts and food items available for purchase. There will be a variety of vendors set up at the event, offering a wide range of Christmas gifts and treats available for purchase.
