Evelyn Kaye Merritt

Ms. Evelyn Kaye (Graham) Merritt (unmarried)-age 72 of Corryton born May 4, 1952, entered into the Lords Rest in the early morning hours of August 31, 2024, at Willow Ridge Rehabilitation Center. It was a rest that she desperately needed because her body and mind were so tired. Kaye also knew that she wasn't getting angel wings and flying off to heaven. She is getting the best rest ever and will be ready and rested when the Lord returns for His Bride, The Church. Her Church affiliation is unknown, but the most important thing is that she had a testimony of accepting Christ and being born again. Kaye loved going to church when she could, but she also understood that her name on a church roll didn't insure you were going to heaven. It takes a personal relationship with Christ for everyone must work out their own salvation. She worked for the State of TN as a bridge inspector for several years, operated a successful house cleaning business, and most recently was an in-home caregiver. Caregiving was her true calling because when she took on a client, she poured everything that she had into taking care of that person. Preceded in death by parents: Rufus and Cora (Tomlinson) Graham; ex-husband: Ronald Gene Merritt; sisters: Audrey Alley, Linda Sexton, Brenda Bailey, and Dorothy Muncey; brothers: Robert "Bob" Graham, Earl Graham, James "Bud" Graham and Charles (Buster) Graham.

Survived by Son and daughter in law, Derrick and Scarlett (Chadwick) Merritt; granddaughter, Presley Merritt; grandson, Dylan and Alesha (Varner) Merritt; great granddaughters, Everleigh Merritt and Jovie Rose Merritt; sisters and brothers in law: Margaret (Raley) and Roy Irick, Wanda Oaks, Teresa and Gary Capps, Debbie and Lloyd Poore; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tim and Teresa (Pursiful) Graham. Too many nieces and nephews to list.

Kaye was a private person and chose not to have a service. She will be cremated, and the immediate family will have a private service. If you would like to make a donation on behalf of Kaye's memory, please donate to your local women's shelter or find a person in your community that is in need whether it be to help pay a KUB bill, groceries, or gas. Help and be kind to someone just for the sake of being decent human beings to one another. Kaye would want to see someone helped. Arrangements by Cooke-Campbell Mortuary, Maynardville.
