UC Libraries and Book Station Summer Reading Programs recap

We had such a wonderful time at the summer reading programs this year at the Union County Libraries and Book Station.
We want to thank all our local volunteers, teachers, library board members, parents, guardians and family members who were able to bring their children to participate and encourage a love for reading.
The Union County First Responders demonstrated job duties, promoted safety and shared rescue experiences at the Maynardville Public Library (MPL).
Park Ranger Hannah taught at MPL and the Sharps Chapel Book Station about animals that roam the Big Ridge State Park.
CW Farms and Petting Zoo brought exotic animals, such as a miniature cow, llama, baby kangaroo and camel just to name a few to the Luttrell Public Library.
Also, the Sharps Chapel Book Station sponsored classes at the Sharps Chapel Elementary School taught by local quilter Lynn Dyke and knitters Mildred Dyke and Glenda Brantley, while librarian Sherry Medina read the weekly storybook.
Our local artist, Tina Dyer from Painting with Expression, taught a painting class at both libraries promoted our themes “All Together Now” and “Circus Time.”
Magician Michael Messing brought lots of laughs and excitement to both public libraries as well. On reward day all participants were rewarded for the time they spent reading in the month of June by spending their earned book books on prizes of their choice.
This is just a little recap of the summer fun at the libraries and book station. There are exciting things coming next summer, so we hope to see you there in June 2024.
