Tennessee beef heifer development program field day

Please join us for the Tennessee Beef Heifer Development Program Field Day event being held on Friday, October 20, 2023 beginning at 8:00 a.m. (CDT) and ending at 3:00 p.m. The event will be held on the Middle Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center at Lewisburg in conjunction with the Tennessee Beef Heifer Development Program.

8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. - Registration and Vendors

9:00 a.m. – 9:15 a.m. - Opening remarks (Kevin Thompson, Middle Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center Director)

9:15 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.-“Setting up your heifers for a good future – health and vaccination management” (Dr. Lew Strickland, UT Extension Veterinary)

10:15 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.- “Using genetic tools to breed and select high quality replacement heifers” (Dr. Troy Rowan, UT Extension Beef Cattle Specialist in Genomics)

11:15 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.- Vendors and Lunch (Provided) – Dr. Dwight Loveday

1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.- “Nutrtitional requirements of a developoing heifer on pasture” (Dr. Katie Mason, UT Extension Beef Cattle Specialist in Nutrition/Grazing Management)

2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.- “Reproductive efficiency of beef heifers: aiming for cow longevity” (Dr. Saulo Zoca, UT Extension Beef Cattle Specialist in Reproductive Management)
