On a pretty summer day, my daughter & I were looking for gift shops when we came across the Knoxville Soap & Candle Shop. We were impressed by the variety in the store. I asked if they were hiring. I had worked for 35 years, was now retired, and I was bored to death. The answer to my question was yes. They were looking to hire a candle maker. Well, I thought why not, I am a fast study. So, I went to work the next day as a part time employee. Then in 2005 the place that made the all-natural soap was closing and after much persuasion I took the job. I had to take my training in another building down the road. I was taught by a chemist and as I stated earlier, I was a fast study. So, I did just that and I got to move back to the gift shop
When the store split, the gift shop moved out of current building. This left only the Soap & Candle factory. The present owners sold the gift shop so I was left at the factory. Then came the time to sell the factory. I first said no when asked if I would buy it. I also said no 3 or 4 more times. Then finally I gave in and never have I regreted it because I love my factory. Sometimes it is a challenge when a customer wants to special order something in a very different shape and color. However, candles can be so pretty and you feel really good when you know you have made your customer happy. I never look back because I love making something so good in so many different fragrances.
The Knoxville Soap Factory is located in Knoxville Tennessee just 45 minutes from The Great Smokey Mountain National Park. We have been making our soaps since 1998 using our exclusive recipe. Our soaps are made of natural products and handmade in our factory. In addition, we also offer beautiful candles in a variety of scents and forms and handmade bath salts.
