Farm Bureau awards three scholarships

Scholarship recipients Lakin Booker, Eben Hansen, and Max Richardson are congratulated by Farm Bureau Insurance agent Cody Brown and Union County Farm Bureau board of directors president Eddie Thompson.

Annually, Union County Farm Bureau distributes scholarships to senior students at Union County schools. This year was a very competitive application pool with funds for three scholarships. Each student received $1,500 to the college of their choice. Any high school senior was invited to apply; however, it is emphasized that a student furthering their education in an agriculture-related field will be given priority. An immediate family member of the student must also be a current member of the Union County Farm Bureau.
This school year, hardworking students Lakin Booker, Eben Hansen and Max Richardson succeeded in achieving the Farm Bureau awards.
Lakin has plans to achieve her Bachelors at the University of Tennessee in the field of Environmental Economics with a minor in Political Science. Her goal is to become a part of the United States Department of Agriculture office as a District Conservationist.
Eben will be attending King University to play baseball. He plans to major in the Construction Science field for his Bachelors Degree.
Max is set to attend Walters State Community College for his prerequisite classes then transfer to the University of Tennessee majoring in either Animal Science or Ag Business, to pursue a career in those fields.
The board is enthusiastic in supporting the community, with great significance in the ag sector and for future ag leaders. There is much support in providing youth with opportunities for growth, education, and experience. Meetings are held monthly at the Union County Farm Bureau office on the first Thursday.
