Choc-peanut butter bars

A sister in the Lord shared this recipe with me. I had given her my Red Grape Pie recipe. She showed up at church last Sunday with this recipe in hand. I am a believer in sharing recipes. There are those who say ”Oh, I couldn't give you the recipe for that. It's all in my head. I just throw it together.” Some just flat out refuse to share a recipe. However, no two cooks making the same recipe end up with quite the same tasting dish, don't cha know. If I have a special way of making something, I share it. I am too old to keep secrets.

If you are a fan of chocolate, you will like this recipe. All of chocolate's friends are in there, too including peanut butter and marshmallows. But don't try it if you are watching your weight. This is defnitely not a low calorie diet food.

CHOC-PEANUT BUTTER BARS
1 pkg. ( 2-layer size) devil's food cake mix
1/2 cup butter, melted
2/3 cup milk, divided
3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
7-ounce jar marshmallow crème
1/2 cup peanuts
1 1/2 (4-ounce) pkgs semi-sweet chocolate
(6 ounces) coarsely chopped

Heat oven to 350 F. Combine dry cake mix, butter and 1/3 cup milk in large bowl. Press 2/3 of mixture onto bottom of 9 by 13 inch baking pan. Bake 12 to 14 minutes or until center is almost set. Cool 3 minutes. Then mix peanut butter and remaining milk until blended. Spread onto crust. Top with small spoonfuls of the marshmallow crème and remaining cake mixture. Sprinkle with peanuts and chopped chocolate, pressing gently into cake mixture. Bake 18 minutes or until center is just set. Don't overbake. Cool completely before cutting into bars.
