Chicken Alfredo for the Veterans

The Veterans Volunteers would like to invite all Veterans to a special Chicken Alfredo dinner prepared by Marty + Kelly Mitchell and Randy + Deb Nelson. Dinner will include a delicious side salad and garlic bread. “Dessert”, you ask? “Will there be dessert?” The meal will finish with a very special Strawberry/Blueberry Pretzel creation you will not want to miss!

Chicken Alfredo is a hearty dish made with fettuccine pasta, a creamy parmesan white sauce, and garlicky pan seared chicken.

The dish is named for Alfredo Di Lelio, a Roman restauranteur who is credited with its invention and popularization. Di Lelio's elaborate tableside service was an integral part of the dish. (Elaborate tableside service will be missing at this dinner. It is all self-serve!) Traditionally speaking, in Italy you would never ever mix chicken with pasta! Did you know that the term “Alfredo” is not used often in Italy? There are many different combinations of butter and parmesan similar to what we define using the name we recognize, but Italians call all of these combinations “al burro”.

Dinner is scheduled from 6:00 to 6:45 on Monday June 3. Preparing a monthly free dinner for our Veterans is a small way for Union County volunteers to meet our Veterans and to thank them for all that they have done for us and for this country. If you can, please stay for the 7:00 American Legion Post 212 meeting after dinner.
