All aboard for tea and a train

Sipping herbal tea at TVRM

Experience a timeless blend of traditional tea paired with a historic journey on a vintage train at Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum. Located in Chattanooga, the trip is just two hours away and is the perfect way to celebrate a special birthday, anniversary, or just a relaxing day. Tea is served on fine china with exquisite linen and lace tablecloths. Some attendees dress in Victorian attire with long dresses and large hats but there is no dress code required. The tea occurs most every weekend and some weekdays at 11:00 AM. Sip three teas of your choice from a selection of black and herbal teas while you enjoy a selection of sweet and savory items that may include quiche, soup, chicken salad, scones, cheesecake, and lemon cookies at this full high tea. There is definitely enough for a very enjoyable and satisfying lunch. After the tea, board the Missionary Ridge Local as the whistle blows to start your historic steam or diesel train ride through the pre-Civil war Missionary Ridge Tunnel, across four bridges, all while experiencing the narrated tour of several historic sights along the six mile trip. During the layover at the East Chattanooga Depot, walk through the train restoration shop and see a turntable demonstration as the train turns around for the return trip to the Grand Junction Station. Remember to purchase a shirt or maybe even an engineer cap to remember your trip.

Tennessee valley railroad museum is located at 4119 Cromwell Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421. Schedules, prices, and more information are available at tvrail.com.
